Athletic Fund Raising - 4-11


I. Policy

A. It shall be the policy of the College to follow an established procedure for the raising of funds for the athletic program. 

B. Athletic fund raising shall be for all athletic programs with all athletic personnel involved.

C. All funds raised must be processed through the Office of Development.

D. No member of the athletic staff shall have authority to collect and/or distribute any funds in any bank account.

 

II. Procedure

 

A. All scholarship funds, including tuition waivers, shall be administered solely by the Athletic Director (AD).

B. Athletic scholarships shall be dispersed by the AD on a formula basis.

C. There shall be three categories of scholarship funds that become part of the formula. They are: 

1. Institutional Supported Base - These are funds that are provided by various institutional means - including the President’s Discretionary funds, Student Fees, Grants-In-Aid, and the College’s General Scholarship Fund. These funds shall be distributed by the AD.

 

2. Coaches’ Activities - These include funds raised through special activities conducted by the various coaches in coordination with the AD. Activities include Jog-A-Thons, Golf Outings, Summer Camps, Banquets, Drawings, special events, etc. Net funds obtained through these activities shall be credited to the scholarship account, but made available only to the program identified with the involved coach(es). Activities under this category shall not include solicitation of funds from businesses and/or individuals as outlined below.

 

3. Eagle Club - These funds are to be raised under a plan developed by the AD in concert with the Director of Development. All funds raised from these activities shall be placed in the Athletic Scholarship Account and shall be distributed by the AD.
